Everything You Need to Know About Mobile Massage

More and more people are beginning to understand the benefits of massage therapy

As this understanding grows, too, consumers are also expanding where they are receiving massage therapy. One service that is seeing growth is mobile massage, where massage therapists travel to the client.

In a recently published article entitled, “How to Start and Run a Mobile Massage Business,” author and expert, Julie Onofrio, writes:

“A Mobile massage business is a type of massage business that goes out to people’s homes, hotels or other such facilities to bring massage to the massage client,” adding that it can be just about anywhere—a party for weddings, going into senior facilities, going into offices or companies where people need massage.  “I have even heard of massage therapists going into casinos and bars.”

While a majority of people are concerned about their health and well-being, many find it difficult to fit “me time” into their hectic schedules. Mobile massage takes the traditional massage to the next level by utilizing portable equipment that brings the luxury of a massage directly to them.

Many massage therapists who practice mobile massage don’t have regular 9–5 hours, that’s something to consider when thinking of adding this service to your current practice.

Also, Onofrio writes that as a mobile massage business owner,  you will be taking safety risks everyday of going into strangers homes.  “There are not any ways to really screen these people to know what you are getting into,” Onofrio writes.

There’s also the required equipment.

Onofrio suggests that you will need to figure out what equipment you will need and to judge if your vehicle will be able to do the job of hauling your equipment. You will need to take (a):

You can be the best massage therapist in the business, but if clients can’t find you, you will never be able to build a successful practice.

“Just like any other business, you will need a marketing plan.  How will these people find you? Start with a Website that gets found for the keywords – massage your city – because many people will not even realize that massage therapists do come out to your home,” Onofrio writes, adding, “If you are in a tourist area or seasonal sports area where there is probably a higher demand for mobile massage therapists, they will need to find you in a search on Google or Bing.”
